The Bottom Drawer: Sole Sistas’ Review

The Bottom Drawer is an outdoor café, set in a leafy garden, and is the ideal place to unwind during the hustle and bustle of the festive season. Their delightful décor affords the perfect setting for breakfast, lunch or tea, accompanied by a decadent treat, be it sweet or savoury.

The lunch menu offers a wide selection of sandwiches (toasted or open), wraps, salads and quiches as well as their homemade Pot Pies. Definitely, treat yourself to one of these; they are the ultimate in comfort food with rich gravy and melt-in-the-mouth buttery pastry! They also have daily specials, and banting options on some dishes are available. Every dish is beautifully plated and your mouth will be watering before you take your first bite.

We selected the Mediterranean Quiche, which was generously filled with sweet peppers, onions, plump black olives and feta cheese, and the Open Bacon & Avo Sandwich, which is the chef’s favourite. We had the banting bread option for the sandwich, which had an excellent texture and a lovely dark colour. You can also have the homemade hot buttered herb & cheese bread. All lunches are served with freshly picked garden salads and are dressed with a special “Steph” dressing…they should bottle this dressing and sell it in the gift shop. It’s delicious!

The Maasdorp Market is conveniently situated next door on Wednesdays and Saturdays, however you’d be well advised to book ahead on these days to avoid missing out on the wonderful Bottom Drawer experience!
