“Your words are my food, your breath my wine. You are everything to me” – Sarah Bernhardt
Wine lovers, have you ever been in Love? The month of February, each year, brings about the graciously anticipated Valentine’s Day, a day, the world over, which exclusively speaks the language of love. I was a boarder in high school and I vividly remember how colourful this day was. The student body added more colour by exchanging cards and gifts. Though there are a few stories about the origins of this day, I’m sure you’d agree with me, that that four-letter word. ‘LOVE’, is certainly at the centre of it.
Imagine living in a time where you can pick and choose a lover, as you deem fit, for that day, month or year. We all have our own love stories that we celebrate and reflect on when the need arises. I’m a romantic at heart and not one day goes by when I don’t think about love. Mind you, this ranges from love hurting to love making my world go round. Wine lovers, the month of February is in full ‘bloom’ and a lot is happening, including the harvesting of grapes in the Southern Hemisphere. This February wine lovers, adventure against the grain. Push that old lover aside and get comfortable with a new lover. It is after all, Valentine’s Day this Thursday, and the shuffle is all about love. Falling in love with a new wine is what I’m on about wine lovers. Out with the old wine and in with a new wine. Take a Colmant sip and fall in love. Who knows what words will escape from your lips? Did I hear a ‘til death do us wine?
Yes, life is there to be celebrated, and so is Valentine’s Day. Celebrate your day with a bubbly sip from Colmant. The Bubbly Bar in Harare is a mobile bar, run by Talia, and prides itself in providing a personal sip to bubbly lovers. Driven by love for sparkling wines, Talia offers wine lovers a memorable Colmant sparkling wine experience. And thanks to Talia and the Bubbly Bar, I was hosted to a thoughtful and relaxed afternoon of a Colmant sparkling experience. Having visited Colmant Winery a few years ago, and being the romantic I am, I was thrilled to take a stroll down the Colmant love lane.
Colmant Winery is a South African Franschoek Valley based Winery that delights in their work of perfection to provide sparkling wine lovers with a Method Cap Classique (MCC) range with a sip for everyone. MCCs are produced using the traditional method that is still used in the production of Champagne. Now don’t allow yourself to be tempted into calling these sparkling wines ‘Champagne’ as you can only call them by that if they have been produced in a region in France called Champagne. Put simply, MCC is the proudly South African equivalent of Champagne.
