Johannesburg: An incredible win for Zimbabwean-born singer-songwriter and vocal powerhouse
FRYA, her five songs are featured on Season 2 of the Netflix’s second African original hit series
Blood & Water, four of which are from her debut album ‘Balance’ due for release next month;
all alongside the series theme song creation she collaborated on with renowned producer Mr
Kamera. This is a monumental feat for a new artist who is yet to release a full body of work and
a true testament to Frya’s star power and talent. The Johannesburg based artist is delighted to
share a piece of herself with the world. Blood & Water Season 2 premieres on Friday 24th
September on Netflix.
The four songs Chandelier, Back it Up, Calculate and Changes are part of her much anticipated
forthcoming debut album, Balance, which is currently up for pre-order and set for full release on
the 22nd October 2021.
”I feel extremely blessed about the Blood & Water placements and having had the opportunity to
do the soundtrack which is a key piece of a show’s identity. To have a huge machine like Netflix
and the Blood & Water production team believe in my sound and vision by placing nearly half of
my debut album in this incredible show with amazing African talent, is so surreal. I am still in the
beginning of my career, such milestones make the journey that much more amazing.”
commented Fyra.
Her vocal prowess, relatable yet powerful writing skills and her versatile sonic embodiment
makes Frya an artist to watch from the continent. Her sound is unique and fresh, inspired by her
exposure to different parts of the world, having lived abroad.
