Jah Prayzah praises ‘consistent’ Macheso

JAH Prayzah, the Zimbabwean contemporary music sensation, has praised Alick Macheso ahead of the Sungura maestro’s new album launch.

The hugely popular singer will release his latest offering in Chitungwiza on Friday, so much more special as he will be celebrating his 54th birthday.

And Jah Prayzah, himself an absolute hit among Zimbabwean music fans, has tweeted in adoration of the prolific composer, who will be launching his new 12th studio album — Tinosvitswa Nashe.

Wrote Jah Prayzah: “If consistency was a person. I have so much respect for Mdara wedu Macheso and what he has achieved for himself and the industry. Friday he launches a new album & also celebrates his birthday @ the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex. Handei tose tinotsigira nehuwandu hwedu.”

Macheso has lined up fellow local musicians for the Friday gig at the Aquatic Complex, although Jah Prayzah will not be part of the line up.

The album launch coincides with his 54h birthday on June 10.

On the line up are some of his collaborators including Andy Muridzo and Baba Harare who once worked with Jah Prayzah at his Military Touch Movement stable.

Other performers are Suluman Chimebtu, Selmor Mtukudzi, Leonard Zhakata and zim dancehall star Freeman.

Macheso, who is also affectionately known in music circles as Extrabasso for his bass guitar wizardry, last put an album out — Dzinosvitsa Kure — in 2018.

He then followed it up with his successful collaboration with Zim dancehall prodigy Freeman on Ngaaibake in 2019.

While the massive was still rocking to Ngaaibake, Extrabasso then dropped his 2020 single titled Zuro Ndizuro.

Of late, there have been newcomers in sungura with names like Mark Ngwazi who dominated the charts with his club banger — Dzimwe Nzendo Taurai Madzoka in 2020 and then 2021 saw the emergence of another new name in DT Bio of the Kujata Jata fame.
