Sole Sistas had the pleasure of reviewing Ballantynes Lodge earlier this month.

As we entered the reception, which has a stunning chandelier and a striking view of the infinity pool, we immediately relaxed and left the stress of the day behind. We received a warm and friendly greeting from Hailey, who showed us to our beautiful room. The dazzling room greeted us with an open plan and en suite walk-in shower. The stunning room was enhanced by careful attention to detail. In addition to the usual amenities, there were fresh roses on our pillows, Swiss chocolates and a bottle of customised wine with a personalised welcome note. We knew then that we never wanted to leave!

Back in the main lodge, we were invited to join the owners, Dean & Shirley Harrison, and their guests for drinks and dinner. The number of repeat guests and the friendly banter is testimony to the lodge’s great service. Dinner was delightfully served on a central communal table, which created an atmosphere of being included in a friend’s dinner party rather than a hotel. Private tables for meals are also available if you prefer. There was no starter as they had served bar snacks with drinks. The main course was pan-fried tilapia and prawns out of the shell, with rice and salad. Lemon butter and tartar sauce were served separately. The dessert was ice cream with a shot of espresso and a shot of Amarula. The food was delicious and our wine glasses were continually re-filled. After a fabulous evening, we retired to our comfortable beds where we enjoyed a restful night.

Ballantynes Lodge is set in a beautiful garden and together with the attentive service from the staff and owners alike, Sole Sistas felt pampered and welcome. There is a saying above the door as you leave, and we couldn’t agree with it more: Arrive as a guest…leave as a friend…
